Meet your Career and People Expert

Hello, I'm Anastasia Opait, a seasoned professional in the realm of Culture & Talent (or what some call HR). I have been a leader in HR for nearly a decade and I've had many ups and many downs and it took me years to find happiness in my career.
I started my career journey in the transportation industry where I dealt with many different situations. The transportation industry is a difficult one to work in, but I enjoyed the challenges that were thrown at me and remained the HR Manager at this particular company for nearly 7 years.
When people speak about companies that they least enjoy working for, the often say that the culture sucks or is not existent, there is no room for growth, the upper management just doesn't care, there is a lack of transparency and communication, compensation is sub par at best, and the list goes on. These factors would definitely describe the company I was at. But I really did not think there was anything better out there. With bad there is always some good. I worked with awesome people who made my job fun, and my boss was one of the most amazing people I have met in my life.
There were days when I loved my job, and days where I absolutely dreaded coming in to work. More bad days than good I would say, but I remained loyal and pushed through hoping things would get better.
Finally, after the company got bought out by another, and things continued to deteriorate, I finally said enough was enough and decided to make a move.
You know what they say, when you start to open yourself up and change your mindset, opportunities start opening up to you. And that was what happened to me. A great opportunity presented itself, and I could not pass it up. So I made a move, to another company within the transportation industry. BIG mistake. This company proved itself to be even worse that I could imagine. I did read some terrible reviews before I started but figured, what the heck, worth a shot! Boy was I wrong. I lasted there for about 4 months.
By the grace of the universe, at that point many more opportunities opened up to me. It was difficult but after careful consideration I made the decision to join a company who has changed my perspective on HR. I became the Culture & Talent Leader, specifically focusing on acquiring awesome talent, and ensuring our current talent is happy. I have never been happier! I have been with this company now for almost 2 years and could not imagine working anywhere else. The CEO of the company is a hard working, humble human who just wants to see his team succeed. I have found everything I was looking for in my career at this one place and I couldn't' be happier.
I have found my dream job on my dream career journey. I am happy.
